Our department offers a sumptuous decor especially with the Cantal Mountains. It is the largest volcano in Europe.

These spaces are home to very rich and unspoiled flora and fauna. A mountain culture and living skills are also to be discovered.

Outdoor enthusiasts will be delighted to discover the volcano through a hike, mountain bike or horseback ride. The famous GR400 goes around it. In winter, the volcano is adorned with a white coat and offers a range of snow activities. Take place, downhill skiing, Nordic skiing, Nordic ski touring, snowshoes.

Le Plomb du Cantal is the highest point in our department (1855 m), it hosts the Lioran ski resort.

Several puys will ensure your best outings in the mountains: Puy Griou, Puy Violent, Col du Prat de Bouc, Puy Chavaroche, and of course the most famous Puy Mary (Pas de Peyrol pass)

The Puy Mary is certainly the most visited tourist site in Cantal, its layout allows you to climb the summit with your family for a sensational panorama of the Cantal volcano. (1 hour from the holiday village) The Tour de France cyclist will stop there in 2020, Friday July 10. The last 2 kilometers at an average of 15% promise a “fight” for punchers / climbers.

Before returning to the holiday village La Gineste and after a beautiful day of hiking you will necessarily make a stop in one of the most beautiful villages in France: Salers

Salers is a medieval village of the 16th century, the volcanic stone which composes the houses gives a whole with the very typical character. The fortified city hosts many shops and restaurants that will make you appreciate our local products. (40 minutes from the holiday village)
